The Head of Research is the senior University officer responsible for advancing research at Busoga University. The head oversees the solicitation of research funding, implements Busoga’s research policies and helps to shape the research priorities of the University.

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations builds strategic partnerships with corporations and foundations in support of research and programs across all academic areas.

These intellectual partnerships, which take theories and research from the classroom and laboratory to a larger audience, often result in the development of new ideas, processes, or products that benefit individuals, institutions, and society.

The Corporate and Foundation Relations Office aims to match the interests of corporations and foundations with the work being conducted by Busoga University programs and projects. We act across academic departments and administrative offices to pave the way for productive collaborations, and then manage the long-term partnerships that result.

The Office of Research and Project Administration administers government grants and sponsored research and is responsible for compliance and regulatory matters.

The Office of Technology Licensing promotes technology transfer through the patenting and licensing of discoveries made in Busoga University laboratories.

The University Research Board (URB) provides administrative oversight of research at Busoga University.

The University Research Board (URB) is advisory to the Vice chancellor on all matters concerning research performed at the University. The membership of the University Research Committee includes:

  • Vice Chancellor
  • Director Academic Affairs
  • Director Quality Assurance
  • Head of Research Unit
  • Faculty Deans
  • One member elected

Functions of the University Research Board
The URB takes responsibility for implementing the research policy of the University and, with its various sub-committees, is responsible for the support and monitoring of all University approved research and related activities. In particular, the URB is responsible for:

  • Provides administrative oversight of research at the University
  • Regulation, monitoring and quality assurance of university research activities
  • Managing and allocating various trust funds and endowments and other general funds bequeathed to the University for research and related purposes
  • Screening all proposed research to ensure compliance with both University and national ethical guidelines
  • Assisting individual researchers and research entities with the general running and administration of their activities, including in particular matters such as appointment and remuneration of staff, drawing up research contracts and budgeting.

The University Research Board (URB) is advisory to the Vice chancellor on all matters concerning research performed at the University. The URB consists of ten members including all faculty deans, head of research and two appointed by the vice chancellor.
